IRNA: Kurdistan Democratic Party vowed to assist the “Green Movement”

a snapshot of the IRNA report posted on the agnecy's site

…despite the clarity in Mostafa Hejri and our Party’s message that the latest unfolded events clearly proved that the so-called reformists are far apart from this movement, therefore, supporting the movement will not and should not translate into supporting the regime reformists.  Moreover, PDKI also considered the elections as sham and called on the people to boycott this selection.

One wonders why would the regime’s official news agency (Islamic Republic News Agency) or better know as IRNA would report on a Kurdish political opposition that they dearly hate and pretend to ignore.  Though, it was only posted in Persian (solely for the domestic consumption) I can only think of three things:  First and foremost, the regime knows well that the people in Iran and especially the Iranian Kurds pay close attention to the PDKI and its leaders and most importantly to its affiliated satellite station Tishk TV.  Knowing that millions tune into this powerful medium, it must give its own version of the story, as we see in the IRNA story.

Secondly, the regime wants to create a stronger case against those who have been placed behind bars that there are anti-revolutionary elements within these unrests, thus they deserve a stricter punishment.

And lastly, the regime wants to tell those who follow the Kurdish issue in Iran and its political movement that parties such as PDKI are supportive of the reformist leaders, despite the clarity in Mostafa Hejri and our Party’s message that the latest unfolded events clearly proved that the so-called reformists are far apart from this movement, therefore, supporting the movement will not and should not translate into supporting the regime reformists.  Moreover, PDKI also considered the elections as sham and called on the people to boycott this selection.

IRNA: Kurdistan Democratic Party vowed to assist the “Green Movement”

Medya News – IRNA the official news agency of the regime of Islamic Republic of Iran has put out a news on its Persian site that refers to the standpoint of Mostafa Hejri, the Secretary-general of Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan in regards to the “Green Movement of Iran” that Hejri has “proclaimed the green movement of Iran as the official opposition to the Islamic Republic.”

The IRNA news was in reponse to the main Iranian Kurdish political party’s stance on the Green Movement (The main Iranian Kurdish party speaks to the “Green Movement”) that appeals to the green movement organizers to assemble around a common agenda with a leadership council.

Though IRNA refers to Mostafa Hejri and his group as “terrorist”, it purposely reports on Hejri’s remarks that were broadcast on TISHK TV, on Tuesday and adds that “he [Hejri] has named Khatami and Mousavi as the green movement leaders and he has vowed his support and assistance.”

Mostafa Hejri in his article named “The Green Movement and Its Responsibilities Ahead” talks about leading reformist leaders, however, he states in his monthly column “When their hopes for reform slides downward, in the opinion of these folks, Islamic Republic is further ahead in comparison to a secular and non-religious form of government, and as Khatami says “We should all defend the Islamic Republic.”

On the fabric of Green Movement, IRNA further reports that Hejri has stated “The Green Movement consists of all anti-government and opposition elements which requires serious cooperation and support of all dissident organizations.”

Furthermore, the Iranian Kurdish leader “has also proposed to the Green Movement the creation of a leadership council so the movement can function more effectively against the Islamic Republic.”

On the same note, as was reported earlier on Medya News, Hejri’s group also known as PDKI in a recent statement reiterated Hejri’s position that read  “In this regard, the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan along with welcoming this initiative by this group of Iranian compatriots stresses on this reality that democracy in its real form can only be obtainable when, as mentioned in the statement in regard to the diversity that exists in Iran, the national rights of the various nationalities is acknowledged explicitly, so that the contents of the statement can take a step away from its shortcomings and attract wider support.”

Mostafa Hejri and his party also believe that Green Movement will only succeed if it pays attention to the plight of non-Persian nation groups in Iran who make up more than half of Iran’s population as stated in his artcile ” attracting the trust of the nationalities of Iran, and resolving this dilemma by establishing a decentralized and federal structure can play a conquering role, a solution that is concurrent with all the criterion of democracy and all the recognized and weathered international principles.”
